US Grand Prix Tickets

Expect another packed house in Austin for the US Grand Prix when the race at Circuit of the Americas revs up this Fall. The US Grand Prix is a top formula race in Texas that combines great racing, a fun atmosphere and marquee entertainment. Racing is the main highlight of the USGP weekend in Austin. Fans from around the globe come to see the F1 cars take on the unique COTA race track. Fans can purchase Friday only tickets to see the practice rounds, or purchase a Saturday USGP ticket to be there for more practice plus the exciting Sprint Race. The Sunday race is the most popular ticket we offer as that is the day of the US Grand Prix. Fans who want to see all of the action can purchase a 3-day pass which provides access to each day of the USGP.

The demand for the US Grand Prix is stronger than ever as more fans have flocked to the sports since watching the hit Netflix series "Drive to Survive". Over the decade plus that we have handled tickets for this event, we have seen the dramatic rise in demand as that show has created millions of new fans. Fans attending the race can choose to purchase a reserved seat (see options below) or a general admission ticket to watch from one of the opening viewing areas on the track. The reserved seats offer a seat with a nice view of a certain area on the track. The G/A tickets are typically the least expensive and allow fans to check out the race from different vantage points around the track. General admission areas at COTA are open seating areas with the promise of a particular seat.

Tickets purchased for Friday and Saturday will also grant access to the concert held that evening. The concerts at COTA have been general admission shows, that are setup on the open field in the middle of the race track. There is an option to purchase VIP seating for the concerts, which is closer to the stage, for those fans who wish to upgrade. The post race concerts typically start around 7pm with the general admission area tentatively opening at 5:30pm.

Circuit of the Americas Venue Guide

The United States Grand Prix is raced at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) race track. COTA is the only race track in the United States built specifically for Formula 1. There are 20 turns on the COTA track, as well as a rise in elevation through Turn 1. The COTA track is approximately 3.4 miles. The giant observation tower at the center of the track is the most popular feature to check out on race day.

What are the best places to sit at the USGP? Our guide below provides a look into each area of the track where fans can choose to purchase tickets. The track can accommodate over 120,000 fans for the big race.

  • Paddock: The Paddock is most exclusive place to sit at a Formula One race. The Paddock is often the most expensive place to sit as well. This area offers a fantastic view of the action in the pits. This is where many of the VIPs will be mingling star. There are usually a very small number of Paddock tickets available to purchase and they have sold at prices of $10,000 or more in recent years.

  • Main Grandstand: Considered by many as the best seats at the track. The Main Grandstand offers a nice view of the start/finish lines, as well as, the Pit and Paddock directly across the track. The starting grid begins in-front of Section 110. The finish line is in-front of Section 103. There are three levels, with five seating areas, in the Main Grandstand: the MG Lower-Level, MG Trackside, MG Mezzanine, MG Loge Suite Boxes, and MG Club-level. The MG Lower-Level includes Sections 104-117, with 9 rows (Row 1-9) in each section. The MG Lower-level sections include stadium style seating with chairbacks. On the outsides of those seats are the MG Trackside seating which includes Sections 101-103 and 118-123. The Trackside seating includes 9 rows as well but is bleacher style seats with no chairbacks. Just above those seats are the MG Mezzanine (boxes) which includes Sections 4A through Sections 17B. The Mezzanine offers a more intimate seating with only 4 rows in each section and just 6 seats across each Mezz section. On either side of the MG Mezzanine are the MG Loge Suite Boxes which includes Sections 1A through 3D and 18A through 23D. The Loge Boxes are small 8-person suites, but there are rarely any listed for sale for the USGP. The MG Club-Level seats perch above the Mezzanine and includes Sections 204-217. There are 14 rows in each section of the Club-Level and patrons in the club sections have access to the Velocity Lounge behind the section. The Velocity Lounge offers a premium experience for every fan with ticket in the MG 200-level (club-level). Main Grandstand tickets are the premium seats and generally the most expensive tickets at the track (outside of the Paddock area). Seats in the MG Mezzanine and Club sections are covered, so fans are offered protection from sun. COTA.jpg

  • Turn 1 Grandstand: Includes Sections T1 1 through T1 7 (Turn 1, Section 7), where each section has Rows 1-30. Turn 1 is a popular spot often a spot on the track where passing may occur, particularly at the start of the race. The general admission viewing area just down from Turn 1 Grandstands will have thousands of fans sitting on the hill trying to catch a glimpse of the action at Turn 1. The advantage of sitting in the T1 Grandstand is that you are situated above those folks with a clean view of the action on the track. There are 10 sections (6,000 seats) that are built uphill to follow the track. Section 1, Row 1 is the front row; the last row is Section 7, Row 30. The views up the main main straightaway are the best from Turn 1 Grandstand. cota_turn1_seatview.jpg

  • Turn 2 Grandstand: Includes Sections T2 1 though T2 6 (Turn 2, Section 6) where each section has Rows 1-24. A nice spot on the track that offers an awesome view of the cars coming down from Turn 1 and picking up speed.

  • Turn 4 Grandstand: Includes Sections T4 1 through T4 17 (Turn 4, Section 17) where each section has approximately 21 rows (Rows 1-21). These seats offer a nice view of the cars as they speed out of Turn 3 and come into Turn 4, Turn 5 and enter Turn 6. The F1 cars are picking up speed into this turn before they slow down to hit the long backstretch. There is a sliver of that long backstretch straightaway visible from Turn 4 which is an added bonus to see the cars streak down that section.

  • Turn 9 Grandstand: Includes Sections T9 1 through T9 14 (Turn 9, Section 14) where each section includes Rows 1-35. These seats offer fans a nice view of Turn 9, Turn 10 and the straightaway towards Turn 11. These sections are also closest to the "Super Stage Lawn" where fans can stand for the post-race concerts.

  • Turn 12 Grandstand: Includes Sections T12 1 through T12 11 (Turn 12, Section 11) where each section includes Rows 1-37. Fans sitting in Turn 12 will see the F1 cars speeding down the backstretch straightaway and then careening into Turn 12. There may also be visibility to Turn 13, Turn 14 and some of Turn 15 which are nearby.

  • Turn 15 Grandstand: Turn 15 may be the most popular spot to sit, because it is generally priced lower than the front-stretch, while still providing a broad view of the track. Sections 1-7 is in the corner and each section has rows 1-34. Sections 8-25 is on the straight away and each section has rows 1-35. The Grandstands provide a beautiful panoramic view of a large portion of the track, most of Turns 5 through 15. The drivers run through a 180-degree bend and punch the throttle coming out of the corner so their speed doubles in a few seconds to prepare for the climb up to Turn 16. cota_turn15_seatview.jpg

  • Turn 19 Grandstand: Includes Sections T19 1 through T19 11 (Turn 19, Section 11) where each section has Rows 1-30. Fans sitting here will see the cars speed through Turn 17, Turn 18 and make the hard turn into Turn 19. There may also be visibility for Turn 20 which drops the drivers back on to the main straightaway.

  • General Admission: There are designated viewing areas throughout the track for those fans attending with a G/A ticket. There are no reserved seats or standing areas, but fans can roam the track to try viewing the race from different vantage points. Fans are allowed to bring in certain holding chairs, so fans will go stake out a prime spot in one of these open viewing areas to watch the action on the track. G/A tickets are typically the cheapest available to purchase for the US Grand Prix.

If you need help selecting the right seats for the race, then reach out to our Austin-based team of ticket experts. We have attended the race at COTA multiple times, so know the track quite well.
