Grand Prix motorcycle racing, or MotoGP is the premier road motorcycle racing league in the world. MotoGP drivers are among the most daring athletes in all of performance sports. MotoGP drivers often take their bikes to the very limit, driving well over 100 mph and lean their bikes over with knees just centimeters off of the ground. MotoGP is the highest level of motorcycle racing under the Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme, or FIM. FIM is the major governing body for road motorcycle racing in the world and has helped build MotoGP into one of the premier sports on the planet. MotoGP has been around in the United States since the 1960’s, with the original races taking place at Daytona International Speedway.
Following a 20 year hiatus. MotoGP returned to the United States, being contested at Laguna Seca from 1988 to 2005. In 2013, MotoGP once again returned to the United States, this time at the MotoGP of the Americas, taking place at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. The MotoGP of the Americas quickly become one of the top events on the MotoGP calendar, and is one of the most anticipated races of the season.
