2014 AutoZone Liberty Bowl Preview
The Texas A&M Aggies will face the West Virginia Mountaineers in the 2014 Liberty Bowl. The Liberty Bowl will be played on December 29th, 2014 at Liberty Bowl Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee. The Aggies come into the Liberty Bowl trying to turn around a tough 2nd half of the season that saw A&M lost 5 of their last 7 games. The Aggies sport one of the most exciting offenses in all of college football, orchestrated by freshmen quarterback Kyle Allen. West Virginia's season can be described by near misses. The Mountaineers lost close games to Alabama, Oklahoma, TCU and Kansas State. Quarterback Clint Trickett has been one of the nation's most prolific passers and comes into the Liberty bowl having already eclipsed 3,200 yards.
2013 AutoZone Liberty Bowl Preview
The 2013 Liberty Bowl will be played on Tuesday, December 31st at 4 PM between the Rice Owls and the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Rice won their first conference title in over 50 years, taking the C-USA by storm with a 7-1 conference record and winning 10 games overall. The Owls lost to Texas A&M and Houston early on in the season, but then won 9 of their last 10 to take the title. Charles Ross rushed for 1252 yards and 14 TDs for the Owls, while Taylor McHargue passed for 17 TDs of his own while adding another five on the ground. A win in a bowl game would be a very big deal for all Rice players and fans alike.
Mississippi State had big aspirations this season, but stumbled a bit right out of the gate. An opening-game loss to Oklahoma State in Texas where they could only manage a field goal was troubling, while losses to Auburn and LSU put the Bulldogs at 2-3 to start the season. Two overtime wins to end the season, including a big win over Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl, made the team bowl eligible at 6-6.
2012 Liberty Bowl Game Preview:
It's Tulsa and Iowa State in the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tennessee and the Golden Wave is trying to pick up its 11th win of the season against the 6-6 Cyclones. Iowa State had some big wins in a crowded Big 12, including victories over Baylor and TCU. They also picked up the W against rival Iowa early in the season when they started off 3-0. The Cyclones will be trying to stop Tulsa QB Cody Green, who has 2500 yards and 17 touchdowns thus far, hooking up with wide received Keyarris Garrett for nine of those scores.
Spend New Year's Eve in Memphis and watch the Wave against the Cyclones as they try to end the season on a high note.
2011 Liberty Bowl Game Preview:
The 2011 Liberty Bowl matches up the Cincinnati Bearcats from the Big East against the Vanderbilt Commodores from the SEC. The Bearcats finished tied at 9-3 on top of the Big East, but lost out on the Orange Bowl bid to West Virginia. The Commodores will be playing in only their 5th bowl game in the 116 year history of their football program. Expect a large group of Vanderbilt fans to see this historic event, as the Liberty Bowl is only about 200 miles from the Vandy campus.
2010 Liberty Bowl Game Preview:
The 2010 Liberty Bowl features a great matchup of the Georgia Bulldogs against the Central Florida Knights. The SEC’s Bulldogs come in riding high after a big win over rival Georgia Tech. Georgia will face a tough UCF team that finished 10-3 in 2010, including a stellar 8-1 record in Conference USA. Expect a hard fought battle between these two teams as both Head Coaches, Mark Richt and George O’Leary, know that a victory will provide huge momentum heading into the off-season. The 2010 Liberty Bowl is being played on New Year’s Eve at the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee.
2010 Liberty Bowl Game Preview:
The 2010 AutoZone Liberty Bowl will be played on January 2nd at the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tennessee. The 2010 Liberty Bowl will matchup the Arkansas Razorbacks against the East Carolina Pirates. Arkansas fans will make the short trip to Memphis hoping to see Head Coach Bobby Petrino led the Hogs to a bowl game victory.
2009 Liberty Bowl Game Preview:
The 2007 Liberty Bowl Game was an excellent match between University of Central Florida and Mississippi State. UCF won their first-ever Conference USA Championship to receive the berth to the game, which turned out to be a spectacular match of defenses. Mississippi State Bulldogs emerged victorious, with plenty of help from free safety Derek Pegues, who intercepted two passes and was the game MVP. The 2009 Liberty Bowl can be just as exciting, so get ready to pack it in to Memphis, Tennessee for some great postseason college football.
