2013 Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl Preview

The BWW Bowl is locked and loaded with a Big Ten – Big 12 matchup between Kansas State and Michigan, two traditionally dominant teams that just didn’t make the cut in the 2013 season. While the Wolverines found much success early in the season they could not pull it together in the big games to stay alive in the Legends division. Inversely, the Wildcats took a bit longer to get things going losing 4 of their first 6 games.

Kansas State’s quarterback Jake Waters has an arsenal of weapons at his dispense. From two 700+ yard backs in Hubert and Sams to his leading wide out Tyler Lockett who has accumulated more than 1,000 yards this season, the opportunities are endless. Expect Waters to exploit this advantage against a Wolverine defense that is averaging 228 yards through the air. Michigan’s front four will the key to slowing this K-State offense down. Stopping the run will put the Wildcats in lengthy third down situations which they are only converting at 48%. Kansas State will need big plays to come often in order to keep up with Michigan’s Devin Gardner, who has potential to score on every play. If Michigan can shut these plays down they could be coming out on top of the 2013 Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl.

Likewise, K-State will need to be on big play alert as well. Though Gardner has been a bit inconsistent this year, his big play ability is almost guaranteed to show itself at least once per game. Containing Gardner will likely put the Wildcats on top come December 28 at Sun Devil Stadium.

2011 Insight Bowl Game Preview:
It’ll be a battle of Big 12 and Big Ten stalwarts in the Insight Bowl as the 9-3 Oklahoma Sooners take on the 7-5 Iowa Hawkeyes in Tempe, Arizona’s Sun Devil Stadium. While the preseason-number one Sooners stumbled a bit down the stretch, they’re still going for a ten-win season in the Insight. While the two teams have similar defenses, Oklahoma’s 40-point per game average will surely test Iowa’s front seven (although, their almost-29 points per game average is nothing to sneeze at, either). It will be one of the most talked about games this bowl season, so make sure to get your tickets soon!

2010 Insight Bowl Game Preview:
Two defensive-minded teams will battle it out in Tempe when The Big 12's Missouri Tigers and Big Ten's Iowa Hawkeyes clash. The Tigers come in ranked sixth in points allowed, while the Hawkeyes placed seventh. It's going to be great to see which team can crack the other team's defense first!

Missouri's offense was good enough to hand Oklahoma its first loss of the year, and it's led by quarterback Blaine Gabbert and wide reciever TJ Moe. Gabbert's 2,752 passing yards and 15 touchdowns, along with Moe's 893 yards and six scores, made the Tigers a scoring machine. This could pose a problem for Iowa, which is coming in with a three-game losing streak where they gave up most consecutive points during the season.

Quarterback Ricky Stanszi and running back Adam Robinson will help buoy Iowa's defensive miscues, but it will be interesting to see whether the game will be close and then slip away from the Hawkeyes. In their five losses this year, Iowa's defense gave up late, fourth quarter scores, something it can't do against a tough Missouri squad.
