2013 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl Preview

The 2013 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl will be played on December 21 at 8:00 PM at the Superdome in New Orleans between the Louisiana-Lafayette Rajun Cajuns and the Tulane Green Wave. It’s some hometown cooking in the Big Easy, and when you’re talking about Louisiana, that’s always a good thing whether you’re talking about food or football. Tulane plays its home games in the Superdome, the site of the New Orleans Bowl, so this will be a home game for them, even though Lafayette isn’t all that far either. The Wave are in their first bowl game since 2002, led by QB Nick Montana, son of legendary NFL QB Joe Montana.

The Ragin’ Cajuns won their first Sun Belt Conference title since 2005 this season but will be without their quarterback back Terrence Broadway, who broke his arm in the second to last game of the season. His replacement, Brooks Haack didn’t look great against South Alabama, so he’ll have to better his play on the biggest stage of the season for ULL. While Tulane faded at the end of the season, they do have homefield advantage so this should be a great contest.

Both ECU and Louisiana-Lafayette are looking for their 9th win of the season, and the Ragin Cajuns have the extra incentive of playing close to home. The scene in downtown New Orleans is always fun and exciting, adding a little football to the fray will make it a great experience for any college football fan.
