Though Toronto residents have a lot to be proud of, it is hard to find a city more attached to its hockey team. The Maple Leafs were one of the original six teams that founded the NHL, and have the rabid fan base to prove it. Since 1999, the Leafs have played at the Air Canada Centre, one of the nicest venues in the country. Though it is primarily home to the Maple Leafs, it also hosts one of the cities other favorite franchise, the Toronto Raptors. Though they have been in the NBA only since 1995, the Raptors have enjoyed a loyal following not just in Canada, but in the United States as well.
The final jewel in the Toronto sports crown is the Blue Jays of the MLB. The Jays play in the beautiful Rogers Centre, which was the first-ever stadium to have a fully retractable roof. When it is open, the nearly 50,000 spectators in attendance are treated to a breathtaking view of downtown Toronto.
Speaking of downtown, the city has a broad spectrum of attractions that will appeal to just about everyone. It's hard to miss the iconic CN Tower, which sticks out of the skyline to a height of more than 1,800 feet. A trip to this landmark's observation deck is certainly a must.
The city is also a big draw for theater buffs as well. Toronto often hosts theater festivals of all shapes and sizes and has seen a slew of different shows have come through the city including Jersey Boys, Avenue Q and My Fair Lady.
With so much to do and see in Toronto, visitors will not be able to do it all in just a week.
