Sports in Charlotte
Though Charlotte has a number of sports teams, it is perhaps best known for being one of the central hubs of NASCAR. It is where the Charlotte Motor Speedway is located - one of the most famous venues in the sports. The enormous 140,000 seat track hosts numerous events throughout the year, but perhaps none is bigger than the Coca-Cola 600.
The city is home to the Carolina Panthers, who have a loyal fan base that flocks to Bank of America Stadium week after week to watch the Panthers. The Charlotte Hornets seem similar crowds for their home games at the Spectrum Center. The teams that really divide the city are the North Carolina Tarheels and Duke Blue Devils.
A few other big sporting events in Charlotte are the Wells Fargo Championship at the Quail Hollow Club, the ACC Championship Game and the Belk Bowl.
Theatre in Charlotte
When it comes to the arts, nothing stands out more than the North Carolina Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, which features a whopping seven theaters, including the Belk Theater. Whatever you fancy, whether it be Broadway shows or Shakespeare classics, there is certainly the venues for you in this center.
