Austin is a just a big college town, and the sports in the city revolve around the Texas Longhorns. There are no major sports teams in the city, so the Longhorns reign supreme in being the biggest ticket in town. The football and baseball teams both won a National Championship as recently as 2005, and the Horns basketball team has reached the Elite 8 three time in the last decade. There are also minor league teams in the area, including the Texas Stars, Round Rock Express and Austin Toros.

While Austin enjoys nice weather all year, the spring is a particularly good time to be in the capital of Texas. The highs into the 80s and lows in the 60s make it nice for any type of activity, from an outdoor concert to anything lake-related.

Spring is when baseball finally gets up and going, and with the six-time National Champion Texas Longhorns and the AAA Round Rock Express in town, there’s plenty of baseball to go around. The Horns play at Disch-Falk Field, across I-35 from the UT campus. The stadium has gone through renovations over the last few years and is one of the best places to take in college baseball. The Express home field, Dell Diamond, is north of the city in Round Rock and was opened in April of 2000.
