Though Charlotte has a number of sports teams, it is perhaps best known for being one of the central hubs of NASCAR. In addition to being home to the sport's Hall of Fame, it is also where the Charlotte Motor Speedway is located - one of the most famous venues in the sports. The enormous 140,000 seat stadium hosts numerous events throughout the year, but perhaps none is bigger than the Coca-Cola 600, the longest race in NASCAR.
Of course, there are many other sports around other than auto-racing. The city has also been home to the Carolina Panthers of the NFL since the team joined in 1993. Though they have been in the league for a short time, they have enjoyed a loyal fan base that flocks to Bank of America Stadium week after week to watch the Panthers.
The newest team to join the Charlotte sports scene is the Hornets of the NBA. The team plays their home games at the Spectrum Center, and has been making consistent strides ever since they joined the league in 2004.

While sports is definitely a huge draw in Charlotte, there is much more than just athletics. When it comes to the arts, nothing stands out more than the North Carolina Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, which features a whopping seven theaters, including the Belk Theater. Whatever you fancy, whether it be Broadway shows or Shakespeare classics, there is certainly the venues for you in this center.

Charlotte is considered the home of NASCAR as some of NASCAR’s biggest events take place at the Charlotte Motor Speedway every year at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Charlotte Motor Speedway hosts three Sprint Cup Series events every year, including the NASCAR All-Star Race. The Coca-Cola 600, which is one of the biggest, and is the longest race in NASCAR takes place at Charlotte Motor Speedway every Memorial Day weekend.

Summer in Charlotte
One of the biggest events that takes place in late spring/early summer in Charlotte is the Wells Fargo Championship, which has been held at the Quail Hollow Club since 2003. Quail Hollow is known for having one of the toughest finishes, with the 16, 17 and 18th holes being referred to as the Green Mile. Quail Hollow will also be holding the 2017 PGA Championship. Fall in Charlotte
With fall comes football season, and Charlotte is home to the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers have made two Super Bowl appearances since being founded in 1995, with the most recent being in 2015. The Panthers are one of the best teams in the NFL and one of the most exciting teams to watch. The Panthers play their home games at Bank of America Stadium. Winter in Charlotte
Charlotte is home to the Charlotte Hornets, who were the Charlotte Bobcats from 2004-2014. The Charlotte Hornets were founded in 1988 and have been playing at the Spectrum Center since it was opened in 2005.
