Indianapolis is a big pro football city, and the sports in the city revolve around the Indianapolis Colts. The other pro team located in Indianapolis is the Indiana Pacers, who play their home games in the capital city within the friendly confines of Bankers Life Fieldhouse. It's hard to think about Indianapolis without the Indy 500 coming to mind. It’s held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which plays host to the Indy 500, one of the most anticipated motorsports events in the world. Held each year on Memorial Day weekend, the legendary race often attracts hundreds of thousands of spectators to watch domestic and international drivers go for the checkered flag.

Concerts in Indianapolis

Music lovers may also want to stop by the Slippery Noodle Inn, a legendary blues bar and restaurant. Indy Jazz Fest has been a large draw since its inception in 1999 thanks to appearances from such jazz stalwarts as Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Ray Charles and Al Green, and typically takes place the last week of September in venues all over the city. Some of the best concerts and comedic shows on a smaller scale can be seen at the Old National Centre. The Bankers Life Fieldhouse is also the home to some of the biggest tours, with visiting artists like Paul McCartney and Katy Perry.

There is also a growing theater culture in Indianapolis thanks to the rising popularity of the Indiana Repertory Theater and the Madame Walker Theater, which was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1991.
