When one thinks of Missouri, the first city that often comes to mind is St. Louis. However, the state also is home to another beautiful destination - Kansas City. The largest city in the state, this cultural enclave has something for everyone whether they are sports enthusiasts, art buffs or simply just looking to take in part of the United States Midwest.
Sports in Kansas City
Kansas City is home to one of the oldest franchises in the National Football League, the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs have one of the biggest home field advantages in the NFL thanks to Arrowhead Stadium. The field has been home to the Chiefs since 1972, and is widely regarded as one of the most difficult places for opposing teams to play, which should surprise nobody as it often features 76,000 screaming fans. Joining the Chiefs at the heart of the city's sports culture are the Kansas City Royals. Attendance for the Royals has skyrocketed after the Royals made won the World Series in 2015. The Royals have played at Kaufman Stadium since 1972, and despite being one of the older parks in the league, it continues to be one of the most beautiful.
Baseball and football are not enough for Kansas City as they also have a MLS team, Sporting Kansas City. NASCAR also comes to Kansas City in the fall as the race to the Sprint Cup takes place at the Kansas Speedway. Kansas City hosts the PBR Built Ford Tough series every year at the Sprint Center. The most popular event that KC hosts every may be the Big 12 Basketball Tournament, which draws huge crowds to the Sprint Center.
Concerts in Kansas City
Kansas City has many music venues that make it a top spot for concert performers from around the world to play. The Sprint Center is known for hosting some of the biggest touring acts out there, including Garth Brooks, Taylor Swift, Paul McCartney, and more. Across from the Sprint Center is the lively Power and Light District that has evolved itself into one of the top places for concerts in the cities over the years. Other notable venues are The Midland Theatre and Uptown Theater, both of which allow fans to see big artists up close.
