Philadelphia Events

As one of the oldest cities in the United States, Philadelphia certainly has a lot of charm. A rich history, combined with a diverse cultural scene peppered with delicious food and rabid sports fans, makes the City of Brotherly Love one of the must-visit cities in the country.

Sports in Philadelphia

Known for its sports teams almost as much as its historical importance, Philadelphia is home to a long list of iconic franchises. The city is one of the few in the U.S. that has a team in all four major sports, but perhaps none is more beloved than the Phillies. One of the oldest teams in the MLB, the Phillies have called the city home since 1883, and play their home games at Citizens Bank Park - one of the most beautiful venues in the league.

Right across the street from Citizens Bank Park is Lincoln Financial Field - home to the Philadelphia Eagles, who have a rich and storied history. The Philadelphia 76ers of the NBA play in the nearby Wells Fargo Center along with the NHL's Flyers, who have played in the city since 1967. Philadelphia’s MLS team, Philadelphia Union, play at Talen Energy Stadium.

Concerts in Philadelphia

While sports are certainly an integral part of Philadelphia, there is certainly much more that makes the city great. Philly is home to a thriving and diverse music scene that has seen the beginnings of everyone from artists including R&B stalwarts All of the biggest artists on national tours make a stop in Philly, usually either to play the Wells Fargo Center or the Linc.

The city is also home to a number of famous venues including World Cafe Live, which opened in 2004 and has hosted a number of iconic artists including George Clinton and Liz Phair. The Mann Center for the Performing Arts is also a popular venue for touring acts and one of the top outdoor music venues in the nation. For the more classically inclined, the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts is home to the Philadelphia Orchestra, widely considered to be one of the best in the world. The BB&T Pavilion, although technically across the river in New Jersey, is a popular outdoor venue for Philadelphia residents.
