California's capital city, Sacramento, is located in the northern part of California's Central Valley. The city is positioned at the confluence of the Sacramento River and the American River which connects to the San Francisco Bay through the Sacramento River Delta. This strategic location played a huge role in Sacramento's success as a city. During the Gold Rush Sacramento was the areas major distribution port for commercial and agricultural goods. The City of Sacramento was planned out in 1848 by John Sutter Jr. after a large population growth in response to James W. Marshall's discovery of gold at the Sutter's Mill. In 1850 Sacramento was recognized by the state legislature and is now the oldest incorporated city in California.

In 1985 the Kansas City Kings moved to Sacramento and became the cities representative in the National Basketball Association. The Kings play their home games at the Sleep Train Arena. The Sacramento Monarchs were one of eight teams that founded the Woman's National Basketball Association in 1997. Before the Monarchs folded in 2009 they brought the first professional championship title to Sacramento in 2005. Sacramento is also home to several teams in smaller leagues. The Sacramento River Cats AAA minor league team is an affiliate of the Oakland Athletics and they play at Raley Field in West Sacramento. California State University of Sacramento not only hosts the Schools Hornets but is also home to the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the United Football League.

The Sleep Train Arena caters some of Sacramento's most popular performances, from the Kings to Professional Bull Riding and some of the best musicians around. The Sleep Train Arena hosts around 200 events each year and is sure to bring a great experience to all of its attendants.
