As one of the most beautiful cities in the United States, San Diego certainly enjoys its fair share of visitors. People come far and wide to take in the beautiful views of the Pacific coast as well as experience to unique laid back culture that the city has come to exude. Sports may be a big draw for visitors, but the city has much to offer outside of athletic events. For starters, the San Diego Convention Center hosts numerous events throughout the year and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors on a regular basis.There are also a slew of tourist attractions to entertain even the pickiest of vacationers. The San Diego Zoo is one of the best zoos in the world, and there are plenty of delicious places to eat as it would be hard to leave without trying some of the city's delicious Mexican food.

Sports in San Diego

When it comes to sports in San Diego, one team dominates the scene: the Chargers. Ever since they started playing in the city in 1961, they have been a favorite among nearly all residents of the city. Though they have yet to capture a Super Bowl title, the Bolts, as they are commonly known, have been one of the most consistent teams in the NFL.

The Chargers also have one of the most historic venues in the NFL. Qualcomm Stadium has been the Chargers' home since the mid '60s when it opened as San Diego Stadium. While other new stadiums have sprung up across the league, the Chargers' venue retained its classic charm and remains one of the toughest places for opposing teams to play. Furthermore, it regularly hosts a pair of college football bowl games, the Holiday Bowl and the Poinsettia Bowl.

Though the Chargers are beloved, they are certainly not the only team to call San Diego home. The Padres of the MLB are also stationed in the city, and play their home games at one of the most picturesque stadiums in the league, Petco Park. Opened in 2004, the venue offers a stunning view of downtown San Diego and is a great place to take in a game.

Concerts in San Diego

San Diego has a great music scene and the city is where famous artists such as Blink 182, Jason Mraz, Switchfoot, and Pierce the Veil all started. Some of the most popular San Diego concert venues are the San Diego Open Aire Theatre, The Observatory North Park and the House of Blues.

Spring in San Diego

The San Diego Padres were founded in 1969 and are one of the only two California major league baseball teams to originate in California. While the Padres have not yet won a World Series, they have won the National League pennant twice. The Padres have played their home games at Petco Park since 2004. The stadium has a current capacity of 40,162.

Summer in San Diego

One of the biggest conventions in the world takes place in San Diego every summer. San Diego Comic-Con started in 1970 as a comic book convention, however the convention has expanded to showcasing television shows, movies, and all things pop culture. San Diego Comic-Con has been held at the San Diego Convention Center since 1979, where over 130,000 people visit the convention every year.

Fall in San Diego

The Chargers have called San Diego home since 1961 and since then they have become San Diego’s, and southern California’s favorite team. Winter in San Diego

The Farmers Insurance Open is a professional golf tournament that has taken place in San Diego in 1952 . The tournament has previously been played at various Country Clubs in the San Diego area before finding its home at Torrey Pines Golf Course. The Farmers Insurance Open has seen many of the world’s top golfers, including Arnold Palmer, Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson and Tiger Woods, who won the tournament four years in a row.
