Seattle is a unique city that is known for much more than just tons of coffee shops and grunge music. Serving as a major commercial center for the Northwest and a major seaport, Seattle is the pride of Washington State. Many might be surprised to discover that the city is actually ranked as the 15th largest metropolitan area in the United States. On the other hand, Seattle is surrounded by mountain ranges and thick evergreen forests, making it an extremely versatile place for those who prefer a little change in scenery every once and awhile.

Sports in Seattle

Although the city has its fair share of intellectual prowess, sports are also extremely prevalent. Seattle hosts more professional teams than any other in the region, such as the Seattle Mariners for the MLB, Seahawks for the NFL, Sounders for the MLS and the Storm for the WNBA. The presence of college sports is also rather large in Seattle, making it an ideal place for die-hard tailgaters. The two NCAA Division I schools are the University of Washington and Seattle University.
