As college basketball’s longest running conference tournament at any one site (Madison Square Garden), there’s no questioning the tradition of great basketball in the Big East. The roots of this talent fills the Big East Tournament bracket year-in and year-out pitting house hold college basketball names like Georgetown, Villanova, and Seton Hall in one of the best tournaments of the year. While recent realignments have shaken up the Big East bracket from its original state, the tournament has continued to give fans some of the most exciting basketball in the NCAA.
Over the years the Big East bracket has had to accommodate the conferences alignment changes from being one of the largest, a 16-team bracket, to today’s 10-team bracket. The loss of 6 teams shortened the tournament by one round and gave the first round bye advantage to the top 6 seeds.
