Conference USA Information:
Headquarters: Irving, TX.
Commissioner: Britton Banowksy
The Conference USA (C-USA) came to be in 1995 as the result of a merger between the Metro Conference and the Great Midwest Conference. The merger brought together schools residing in the Southern United States including Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, North Carolina, and West Virginia. The conference began competition in all sports except football which they did not sanction until the following year.
The conference has seen some talented basketball programs in its young history of competition. In its early years the C-USA was led by former member Cincinnati which finished the season on top of the conference from 95-02. At the end of each season the Conference USA holds their conference tournament and has done so since '96. NCAA Tournament representation has come on and off throughout the conferences history though from 2003 to 2005 the C-USA saw three consecutive years with more than four teams in the Tournament.
