The George Washington University Colonials men’s basketball team is one of the most exciting teams to watch in the Atlantic 10 Conference and come March, they will be a tough team to beat as they vie for an NCAA Tournament berth.  Head coach Karl Hobbs has become a fan favorite at GW with his enthusiasm and sideline antics.  Even though the 2006-2007 season was supposed to be a rebuilding year for the Colonials, Hobbs managed to lead the team to an Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament titles and an NCAA bid.  The Smith Center in Foggy Bottom will be packed this season to see if the Colonials can add another conference title to their list.

The GW Colonials are well known for their basketball teams under coach Mike Jarvis in the 1990’s.  Jarvis led GW to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament in 1993.  In 2004, the Colonials again made a national impact by beating # 9 Michigan State and #12 Maryland to win the BB&T Classic.  The Colonials also won the Atlantic 10 West division and the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament that season.  In 2005 GW would peak at #5 in the national polls.

The GW Colonials play their home games at the Charles E. Smith Athletic Center in Washington D.C. The arena opened in 1975 and holds 5,000 spectators.  A GW Colonials home game is always a loud, action packed experience any college basketball fan will enjoy.  Buy GW Colonials tickets now and don’t miss any of the action!
