2017 Michigan State Spartans Season Preview
The Michigan State Spartans finished the 2015-2016 basketball season 29-6 and the Big Ten Tournament Championship win, but were not able to end on a high note when they lost in the 1st round of the NCAA Tournament in an upset against Middle Tennessee. As Michigan State gears up for the 2016-2017 season, head coach Tom Izzo has one of the most talented recruiting class of his career with the addition of freshman Miles Bridges, a versatile forward. The Spartans 2016-2017 schedule will test the team early with games against Arizona, Kentucky and Duke. These games could give Michigan State some hits but with a talented freshman class, they are expected to improve as the season unfolds. Returning players, Eron Harris and Gavin Schilling will take on the leadership roles as stable players to replace Denzel Valentine's departure from the team. Whether you are planning on cheering on the Spartans at home games or supporting Michigan State on the road, TicketCity has some of the best deals on all Michigan State Spartans tickets, including home and away games.

The rivalry between these two college programs extend to multiple sports, but the hatred is always displayed on the hardwood. This series is over 100 years old with over 170 meetings between the two teams. As one of the better rivalries in college basketball, this match-up has shown no signs of slowing down.
Michigan State vs. Ohio State
With both college programs consistently ranked and fighting for a Big Ten championship, Michigan State and Ohio State has quickly emerged as one of the best rivalries in college basketball. In eight of the last 10 seasons, one or the other has landed in first or second place. In three of the past four years, the Spartans and Buckeyes tied for first or second at the end of the regular season. With both teams cemented among the college elite, this rivalry will only increase in future seasons.
Michigan State in the Final Four, NCAA Tournament, and Big Ten Tournament
Michigan State has won two National Championships and have reached the Final Four eight times. The rich history continues for Michigan State as they have appeared in the NCAA Tournament over 25 times including 16 consecutively. The Spartans have also won three Big Ten conference tournaments.
2014-15 Michigan State Spartans Basketball Season Preview
The Kentucky Wildcats entered the 2014-15 NCAA Basketball Season as about a unanimous favorite as there could be. Following a heart breaking loss in the 2014 National Championship run, Kentucky returned 8 players, most of whom would have been drafted if they declared for the NBA. Those 8 players alone could have taken Kentucky all the way to the title, but Calapari and company added 4 more prized recruits to the Wildcats team, giving Kentucky 9 McDonald’s all-Americans on the 2014-2015 Kentucky Wildcats Roster. Look for veteran forwards Alex Poythress and Marcus Lee to have a stellar year, and Willie Cauley-Stein and Dakari Johnson to be practically unstoppable around the basket. The top new comer will likely be Tyle Ulis, who plays exceptionally well with the ball in his hands. The talk around Lexington coming into the 2014-15 Wildcats basketball season is not if they can win the National Championship, it is if Kentucky can go undefeated.
2011-12 Michigan State Spartans Basketball Season Preview
Things are looking up this year for the Michigan State Spartans' basketball team. Although a bum knee has forced senior Delvon Roe to retire early, the returning juniors and seniors will be able to step up and deliver some leadership to the younger members. The Spartans have been to more Final Four showdowns in the last 13 years than any other college basketball club in the country. A big part of this success is due to coach Tom Izzo and his ability to pick winners and teach them fundamentals of the game.
Branden Dawson, a new member of the team, is expected to add depth to the roster. Standing at 6' 6", this prospect is an excellent finisher and will use his speed and explosiveness to help put some points up on the board this season.
On defense the Spartans will look to establish themselves by including center Adreian Payne in their scheme. With a 7' 1" wingspan, this kid is exciting to watch as he provides a good amount of athleticism in his big frame. His reach and ability to jump will surely help the team with its rebounding come November. Fans will be glad once the season starts and all this fresh talent starts putting together their game plan on the court.
2010-11 Michigan State Spartans Basketball Season Preview
If you’re lucky enough to get a chance to walk on the court at MSU’s Breslin Center, there’s a reason you feel like a champion. After winning the 2000 championship in Indianapolis, the school actually bought the floor from the NCAA and had it installed on their home court. It must be a source of good luck for the team and Coach Tom Izzo because in the decade since, they’ve had more Final Four berths—four—than any other team, including Duke and UCLA (both with three). TicketCity has had your way in for all those memories, and will again as the Spartans try to make another run in the NCAAs.
The question around Lansing, Michigan is whether this season will result in another top-four finish, or can they finally win another title. Izzo is now free from the rumors of him going to the NBA that surrounded him last season. Unfortunately, key members of his squad are coming off injuries, including guard Kalin Lucas, forward Delvon Roe and freshman forward Russell Byrd. Some say that Lucas would’ve gone pro if he hadn’t ruptured his Achilles Tendon in the NCAA tournament last year. If he can get back to his 14.8 points a game average, the Spartans will be a team that will be seen playing late in March.
