The Mountain West Basketball Tournament is the highlight of the year for basketball in the Mountain West Conference. The tournament is held annually in early March following the end of the Mountain West Conference regular season play. The tournament was first contested in 2000, and has been held at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, every year except a three-year stretch from 2004-2006. The winner of the tournament is awarded an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. After a five-year run of San Diego State (2010-2011) and New Mexico (2012-2014) claiming the conference tourney title, Wyoming, Fresno State and Nevada - in that order - have won the last three years. The Wolfpack have repeated their success thus far this season, starting 7-0 in league play and ranking the in Top 25 in the AP Poll. The Mountain West Basketball Tournament is one of the most exciting events in college basketball and is a great indicator of how the conference will perform in the Big Dance.
