2014 South Regional Preview

Session 1 - South Regional Semi-Finals:
3/27 @ 7:15pm - #11 Dayton Flyers vs. #10 Stanford Cardinal
Game one of the 2014 NCAA Tournament South Regional was a bracket-buster for sure as the #11 Dayton Flyers take on the #10 Stanford Cardinal. Dayton's road to the Sweet 16 produced the first game of the 2nd & 3rd Rounds, which just happened to also be the first big upset of the tournament as the Flyers took out the #6 Ohio State Buckeyes. Two days later the Flyers were at it again beating the #3 Syracuse Orange in a shoot out to the finish. Stanford's run follows a similar road as well. After taking down #7 New Mexico the Cardinal found themselves in a head to head match with one of the best teams in the tournament, historically that is. Stanford showed no signs of slowing down against any opponent weather a 7 seed or a 2 seed, which makes their meeting with Dayton one of the most exciting games in Memphis.

3/27 @ 9:45pm - #1 Florida Gators vs. #4UCLA Bruins
Florida and UCLA will take the court following game one and this is one to definitely be in attendance for. Florida has been a tournament favorite all season long and UCLA is coming off a huge win in the Pac 12 Tournament over Arizona. Both teams have had a fairly easy run thus far in the tournament and will be getting their first shot of top 25 talent against each other. Florida's dominance takes place under the rim. With some occasional perimiter shooting taking place from Prather and Wilbekin, more often than not the Gators are beating you in rebounds and field goals. UCLA will need a top notch performance out of their big man David Wear to make their presence known in the paint, something the forward has done well all tournament. Both teams are of the fast paced, spread the ball around type but UCLA takes the speed of the game to another level, squeezing every opportunity out of both halves. Expect to be on edge for the entire game with a buzzer beater finish.

Session 2 - South Regional Final:
3/29 - Dayton vs. Florida
The 2014 NCAA Tournament South Regional Final will pit the winner of Florida vs UCLA and Dayton vs Stanford. While two great games are on the horizon, the winner of Dayton Stanford will have their hands full with either team in the second game. Regardless, upset alerts will be at a high when the two teams take the court March 29.

When: March 28-30, 2013
Venue: Cowboys Stadium
Location: Arlington, Texas

2013 South Regional Preview:
The South Regional in Arlington is shaping up to be as big as the stadium it's being played in. With Kansas, Florida, and Michigan the regions favorites the Arlington tournament will pit some extremely competitive matches. Currently on an upset watch, the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles made it a point to show off their capabilities with a dominant performance that sent the #2 Hoyas home in the second round. Becoming the first ever 15 seed to beat a 2 seed, the Eagles will be hoping for the same outcome as the tournament progresses but there is still plenty of basketball to be played before cozying up to the jumbo-tron in Arlington. Once the third rounds have produced their winners the picture down south will become crystal clear.

Session 1:
3/28 #4 Michigan vs #1 Kansas
3/28 #3 Florida vs #15 Florida Gulf Coast

Session 2: South Regional Final
3/30 #4 Michigan vs #3 Florida

2012 South Regional Preview:
The South Regional finals are set with the Kentucky Wildcats, Baylor Bears, Indiana Hoosiers and Xavier Musketeers competing for a spot in the Final Four. The Georgia Dome in Atlanta will host the action. Kentucky is still the team to beat, but their re-match with the Hoosiers is the Round of 16 match-up that everyone is talking about. Indiana knocked off KU in December on a buzzer beating shot at Assembly Hall. We find out this weekend whether IU has what it takes to knock off the Cats twice in one season. The other Sweet 16 game in Atlanta matches the neon green Baylor Bears versus the Xavier. Baylor has raised some eyebrows with their bright colored uniforms, but it is their dominance on the court that they'll most be remembered for in this tournament. Xavier earned their in the Sweet 16 by beating Notre Dame and Lehigh. The winners of Kentucky/Indiana and Baylor/Xavier will play for a spot in the Final Four.

Session 1:
3/23 #3 Baylor vs #10 Xavier at 7:15pm
3/23 #1 Kentucky vs #4 Indiana at 9:45 pm

Session 2:
3/25 South Regional Final
