The Purdue Boilermakers played their first college basketball game in 1896, which makes them among the oldest Division I programs in Men's college basketball. Most seasons the first big game that Purdue fans turn out in big numbers for is the annual Crossroads Classic with the Boilermakers, Hoosiers, Butler Bulldogs and Fighting Irish. The biggest regular-season games on the Boilermakers schedule is undoubtedly rivalry game against the Indiana Hoosiers. Other top games include those versus Big Ten powers from Illinois, Ohio State, Michigan and Michigan State.

The Boilermakers are annually one of the top teams in their conference and compete each season for a top seed in the Big Ten Tourney. Their long history and great success on the court means that Purdue fans have high expectations for their squad this season. Those include the Boilermakers earning a high seed in the NCAA Tournament where they hopefully make a run at the Final Four.

Purdue Basketball Games at Mackey Arena

The Boilermakers play their home games at Mackey Arena, located in West Lafayette, Indiana, on the Purdue campus. With a capacity of nearly 15,000 screaming fans, Mackey Arena is the place to be for all Boilermakers basketball games. Mackey Arena is considered one of the loudest arenas in the nation due to its domed aluminum roof. The Purdue Boilermakers home bench is on the Mackey Arena sideline in front of sections 17 and 18.
