The Ferrell Center is an indoor multi-purpose athletic center on the Baylor University campus in Waco, Texas. The arena is primarily used by the Baylor Bears men’s and women’s basketball teams as well as for volleyball. Visitors remember the Ferrell Center for its distinctive round, gold-plated dome. The Ferrell Center was opened in 1988 to replace the aging Heart O’ Texas Coliseum as Baylor’s indoor athletic facility. In addition to hosting basketball and volleyball games for the Baylor Bears, the facility has hosted Women’s NIT and NCAA Tournament regionals, as well as Dallas Mavericks exhibition basketball games, and Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns training camps. Even President Ronald Reagan spoke at Ferrell Center at its first-ever event in 1988. For players, the Ferrell Center has some of the finest basketball locker rooms and training facilities in the nation, especially with the recent Lt. Jack Whetsel Jr. Practice Facility expansion. Fans will be awed by the Hall of Honor Entry Plaza depicting decades of Baylor Bear athletics.
