"TicketCity's seats enabled me to see the most exciting college football game ever." - Henry, Cincinnati, OH

College Football Ticket Information

Come August campuses all over the country will undergo massive changes in the atmosphere as school spirit fills the air in preparation for the 2015-16 college football season. While spirit and enthusiasm are atop the checklist for attending a college football game, perhaps one of the more unescapable items is the game day ticket. Ticket prices in college football are reliant on many factors including a team’s schedule, expected performance, and past performance.

The road to the 2nd College Football Playoff is about to get underway, and fans from the nation's largest schools are clamoring for the best seats at the top games. The SEC once again leads the pack in terms of highest ticket prices, with Alabama coming in with the highest median ticket price of $224, and LSU, Georgia, South Carolina, Auburn, and Texas A&M all holding median ticket prices over $110. Notre Dame came in just behind the Crimson Tide with a median ticket price of $210, driven in large part by their marquee matchups against Texas, Clemson, USC, and Stanford. The defending National Chamion Ohio State Buckeyes lead the pack in the Big Ten, with a median ticket price of $185, almost double the next highest Big Ten team. In the Big 12, the Baylor Bears and Texas Longhorns both have median ticket prices over $100.

Sports rivalries in general usually drive a ticket price up, but when it comes to rivalry games in the NCAA no sport comes close to replicating the hype surrounding games like the Red River Showdown, Iron Bowl, or The Big Game. When the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners head to Cotton Bowl Stadium for the Red River Showdown it not only creates a demand to close to triple both teams' median ticket price, but has also become one of the most expensive games of the season at $286 a seat. Similarly, the Iron Bowl between Alabama and Auburn carries a median ticket price of $372. Other big rivalry games of the 2015 college football season that could see similar effects include Notre Dame – USC,Army – Navy, and Florida – Georgia. If any of these big rivalries are on your 2015 college football check list securing a seat early is one of the best ways to keep the cost of attending at a reasonable price.

Average ticket prices can also be manipulated by the departure and or arrival of personnel. Florida State for instance will kick the season off with a median ticket price of $70, a drop from last season due to the departure of Jameis winston. Similiarly, the Oregon Ducks saw their median ticket price drop coming into the 2015-16 NCAA football season, due largely to Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Marcus Mariota leaving for the NFL. The Ducks $61 median ticket price is one of the most reasonable for the program in the last 5 years. Other schools have experienced the opposite effect, like Michigan, who welcome in new head coach Jim Harbaugh with median ticket prices on the rise to $90
