Duke Blue Devils Bowl Game Tickets Information

The Duke Blue Devils are a football team on the rise after missing out on postseason play for most of its history. The school didn’t finish in the Top 25 in the rankings from 1962 to 2013, but that period has been bookended by flashes of brilliance. Duke won the Southern Conference Championship nine times over a 13-year span, which led to invitations to the Rose Bowl in 1939 and 1942, as well as the Sugar Bowl in 1945. After moving to the ACC, Duke again won was very successful, winning the conference every year from 1953-55 and 1960-62.

Duke’s first bowl victory came in the 1945 Sugar Bowl game against the Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama led for most of the game, but a fourth-quarter scamper by George Clark gave Duke the win. The Blue Devils also won the 1955 Orange Bowl and 1961 Cotton Bowl over Nebraska and Arkansas, respectively. Duke lost by 14 in both the Hall of Fame Bowl and Belk Bowl before having their best season in 25 years in 2013.

In 2012, the average ticket price for Duke’s Belk Bowl matchup against Cincinnati was $59, one of the lowest prices of the bowl season. The ticket price went up a bit in 2013 when the division-winning Blue Devils took on the aforementioned Aggies. At $71, it was still a bargain to see a great nail-biter at the Chick-fil-A Bowl.
