Brigham Young University began its football program officially in 1922. The Cougars found their greatest success when they hired LaVell Edwards as head coach in 1972, and he implemented his unorthodox aggressive passing scheme while other college football teams were relying on run-heavy offenses. BYU's ability to rack up points fast is something still seen in Provo today. Edwards coached until 2000. They would win a national championship in 1984 and 19 conference titles under coach Edwards. BYU still shows a powerful passing game today and is always an exciting team to watch. Score with TicketCity - the place to go for BYU Cougars football tickets.

2016 BYU Season Preview
The BYU Cougars' 2015 season ended with 9 wins and 4 losses; the toughest loss of the season was against rival team Utah Utes in the Las Vegas Bowl. As the Cougars enter the 2016 season there will be questions on how the team will operate as 11-year head coach Bronco Mendenhall ended his reign with BYU and was replaced with Kalani Sitake. With Sitake's positive outlook and momentum going into 2016, BYU has proven to be a strong contender for the Independent title. Tanner Mangum will be returning as quarterback, but will have to fight for his spot with co-starter Taysom Hill. The Cougars will start a 4-3 defense scheme as they enter the 2016 season, resulting in more man-to-man coverage by the cornerbacks. Top games for the BYU Cougars 2016 schedule will be against rival school Utah Utes in the second week and home games against UCLA, Toledo, and Boise State. Whether you are planning on cheering on the Cougars at home games or supporting the BYU on the road, TicketCity has some of the best deals for all BYU Cougars’ tickets, including home and away games.

BYU vs. Utah
The “Holy War” is between the two oldest universities in the state of Utah. Separated by only 50 miles, the competition between these universities is so fierce that they cannot even agree when the first game between them was played. This has been one of the closest rivalries in recent years, with a majority of the games decided by 7 points or less. With allegiances dividing the state, this is the can’t miss game in the state of Utah.
BYU vs. Boise State
Although no longer conference opponents, this young rivalry has proven to be one of the best games outside of the major conferences. With games scheduled for the next decade, competition and tradition between these two universities is only sure to grow. Boise State hopes that by beating BYU they can follow in the Cougars footsteps and win a National Championship from a non-major conference, while BYU hopes to return to the top step, by facing an always-tough Broncos squad.
