On December 20, 2008 Memphis squared off against South Florida in the St. Petersburg Bowl as Memphis was trying to finish the season on a high note. The game was incredibly close through the first half, with the Tigers trailing 24-14 at halftime. But in the 2nd half South Florida pulled away winning by a final score of 41-14.
