Known as the Battle for the Palladium, the winner of this matchup is awarded the Palladium Trophy. The rivalry dates back to 1936 when neither school was a member of FBS (Division 1-A) and was renewed in 1999. The Palladium Trophy draws its name from Greek Mythology and legend has it that the winner of the Palladium gains an unknown advantage over the opponent. In such a close rivalry where teams compete for players, coaches, and students, there may be some truth to that.
