The Texas Longhorns come into 2021 with a new head coach and a new quarterback leading the offense. The energy around the Longhorns program is high as Coach Steve Sarkisian takes over the team, and looks to rev up the UT offense like he did at Alabama. The QB1 for the Longhorns will come from among an amazing crop of candidates: Casey Thompson, Hudson Card, or Charles Wright. Texas has a ton of talent on their roster and a brand new coaching staff. Hopes around Austin is that UT can compete with OU & Iowa State to win the Big 12 in 2021.
Horns 2021 Season Schedule
Texas has 12 regular-season games on their 2021 season schedule. That includes 6 home games at DKR, 5 road games and the annual game in Dallas against OU. The best non-conference game in '21 will likely be the opener against the ranked Louisiana Ragin Cajuns. Other big home games include Texas Tech (9/25), Oklahoma State (10/16) and K-State (11/27). The biggest true road game will the second game of the season against UT's old rival from the SWC days, the Arkansas Razorbacks, up in Fayetteville.
Demand for Texas football is strong each season, as the Horns have a passionate fan base that ranks among the best in college sports. Each home game Saturday in the Fall, UT fills their stadium up with loud, passionate fans that have been a big part of getting UT to over 920 victories. DKR is the place to be in Austin anytime the Horns have a home game. The game day atmosphere is electric from the start of Bevo Blvd, prior to the game, until the crowd finishes signing the Eyes of Texas at the end of the game. If you love college football, then make sure you get to the 40 Acres to see the Longhorns play a home football game.
The most popular home games for UT are their Big 12 match-ups with Baylor, Iowa State, KState, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech and WVU. The biggest game on the Horns annual schedule is the TX/OU game at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Longhorn fans have high expectations for the team in 2021 and expect the Horns to be competing for a spot in the Big 12 Championship game, and be in the mix for a major bowl game. A special year for Texas would get them in the mix for one of the available spots in the College Football Playoff, which would provide the Horns a chance to add another National Championship Trophy to their collection.
