311 is a rock band hailing from Omaha, Nebraska. Formed in 1988, 311 consists of vocalist and guitarist Nick Hexum, lead guitarist Jim Watson, bassist Aaron P-Nut Wills and drummer Chad Sexton. From 1988 to 2015, 311 recorded eleven studio albums, two live albums, four compilation albums and four DVDs. Their self-titled album went triple platinum with multiple number one hit singles, including “Down” and “All Mixed Up”. 311 has sold nearly 9 million albums worldwide. The band’s first independent release was the Downstairs EP, recorded in 1989 in the basement of Nick Hexum and featuring the song “Feels So Good”, which became a staple of their live shows at the time. 311’s second release was with IEV records, titled Damnit! Followed by Unity, released in the following year. In 1992, 311 recorded a six track EP titled Hydroponic before moving the band to Los Angeles and singing to Capricorn Records.

311 experienced their first commercial success with their record, Music, in 1993. Their single form the album, “Do You Right” received substantial radio air play and reached number 27 on the Billboard Modern Rock charts. In 1994, 311 released the album Grassroots and toured extensively in support of the album. 311 released their self-titled album in 1995, which would propel the band into the mainstream and earn the three platinum records. 311 included their popular singles, “Down”, “Don’t Stay Home”, and “Al Mixed Up”, all of which were in heavy rotation at radio stations around the world.

311 released a live album in 1998, titled Live, from a performance just a year earlier in New Orleans. Their fifth studio album, Soundsystem, reached number 6 on the Billboard album charts and included the popular songs, “Come Original” and “Flowing”. The band released From Chaos in 2001, featuring the song “You Wouldn’t Believe”, followed by Evolver in 2003. In 2005, 311 released their eighth studio album, Don’t Tread on Me, which included a popular title track. The band released a collection of 81 of their previously unreleased songs, titled 311 Archive, in 2015. The band is well known for their extensive touring as well as their fun and energetic live performances.
