Above and Beyond is an English progressive trance group formed in 2000 and consisting of Jono Grant Tony McGuinness and Paavo Siljamaki. Above and Beyond is most famous for their weekly radio show, Group Therapy Radio, as well as their record labels Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep. Above and Beyond was formed when Grant and Siljamaki collaborated on an electronic music project together while at the University of Westminster. In 1999, the two created Anjunabeats in order to release their first single, “Volume One”. The release of their first single garnered the attention of various dance clubs and gained the support of veteran DJs such as Pete Tong, Paul Oakenfold, Judge Jules, and Paul van Dyk. Shortly after the release of “Volume One”, Above and Beyond released a remix of Chakra’s “Home”, which was picked up by Pete Tong and played on BBC Radio 1.
As Above and Beyond’s popularity grew, other record labels began to request their remixes, including Aurora's "Ordinary World," Fragma's "Everytime You Need Me," Perpetuous Dreamer's "The Sound of Goodbye," and Adamski's "In the City”, which cemented Above & Beyond’s reputation in the electronic dance music and progressive house community. In 2006, Above & Beyond released their debut studio album, Tri-State, which won the Best Underground Dance Track at the 2006 Miami Winter Music Conference and their track “Air and Life” won Tune of the Year, as voted by the listeners on Armin van Burren’s radio show A State of Trance. In 2011, Above & Beyond released their second album, Group Therapy, which quickly hit the number one position on the iTunes Dance Album charts and was Mixmag’s Album of the Year.
In 2014, Above and Beyond released their third studio album, titled Acoustic, followed by We Are All We Need in 2015 and began touring extensively in support of their albums.
