The frontman for several successful bands, Jack White had become a legend of the industry by his early thirties. The Detroit native formed The White Stripes with his then-wife, Meg White, in 1997 and the duo soon signed to Sympathy for the Record Industry. Their self-titled debut album was released in June of 1999 and the band released their second album De Stijl, which reached #38 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart, shortly thereafter.

More mainstream success followed with the release of White Blood Cells in 2001, which went Gold and reached #61 on the Billboard 200. The video for the single “Fell in Love with a Girl” won three MTV Video Music Awards and was also nominated for Video of the Year – eventually losing to Eminem’s “Without Me.” Pitchfork Media has since rated White Blood Cells 8th on its list of Top 100 albums from 2000-2004.

Their next album, 2003’s Elephant, proved to be their most fruitful. It reached #1 on the UK charts and got a five-star rating from Rolling Stone magazine. The album’s first single, “Seven Nation Army,” saw world-wide success and is now on many publications’ list of best rock tracks of all-time and has been covered by artists such as The Flaming Lips and Audioslave.

White soon formed The Raconteurs with members of the Greenhornes as a side project that soon become one of the biggest bands in the world. Both Broken Boy Soldiers and Consolers of the Lonely reached the top 10 on the charts in the U.S. and United Kingdom. “Steady as She Goes” climbed to #1 on the U.S. Alternative chart and propelled the band to headlining festivals such as Austin City Limits and Bonnaroo.

The White Stripes released two more albums before calling it quits in 2011, as White had moved on to form The Dead Weather. The Dead Weather featured White, Alison Mosshart of The Kills, Dean Fertita of Queens of the Stone Age and Jack Lawrence of the Greenhornes. The band’s two albums both saw top 10 success and features White on drums, which he has based heavily on the style of legendary drummer John Bonham.

White’s first solo album,”Blunderbuss,” will be released on April 24, 2012 which he will follow with a worldwide tour.
