The Neighbourhood, also known as The NBHD, is an American rock band which began in 2011. The Neighbourhood consists of vocalist Jesse Rutherford, guitarists Jeremy Freedman and Zach Abels, bassist Mikey Margott, and drummer Brandon Fried. The Neighbourhood released two Eps, titled I Love You and Thank You before coming out with their debut album, I Love You, in 2013 with Columbia Records. Their first singles include “Female Robbery” and “Sweater Weather”, both released in 2012, followed by several tracks released on their second EP, including “Let It Go” and “A Little Death”. Their debut album debuted at the 39th position on Billboard’s Top 200 album chart. The Neighbourhood is perhaps best known for their black and white imagery, as made apparent in their artwork and music videos. The Neighbourhood also released a 7” vinyl record titled The Love Collection, which included three songs, “West Coast”, “No Grey”, and “Sting”. The band released a mixtape titled #000000 & #FFFFFF, which correspond to the colors of black and white respectively. The mixtape featured many well known rappers and MCs of their time, including DJ Drama, YG, and French Montana, and was released for free to their fans. The Neighbourhood performed at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in 2013 and South by Southwest, where they debuted their song, “Afraid”. Their following tour was titled The Love Collection Tour, and featured other artists such as Lovelife, The 1975, and JMSN. Later that year, The Neighbourhood performed on a tour with Imagine Dragons. The band later went on the perform at many music festivals around the world, including Atlanta’s Music Midtown Festival in 2013 and venues throughout Europe in 2014. In 2015, The Neighbourhood released an album titled Wiped Out!, and began The Flood Tour in support of their album. In 2015, The Neighbourhood embarked upon The Flood Tour, performing with their tour openers, Hunny and Bad Suns. During The Neighbourhood’s 2015 The Flood Tour, they performed many of their earlier hit singles such as “Female Robbery”, “Let It Go”, “Afraid”, “#Icanteven”, as well as songs from their 2015 released single, “R.I.P. 2 My Youth” from their 2015 album, Wiped Out! The Neighbourhood performances are known for their intimate singing experiences for the audience and songs with black and white imagery.
