Anthony Hamilton is an R&B singer and songwriter as well as a record producer who was nominated for 16 Grammy Awards through the course of his professional music career. Anthony Hamilton first started singing at age 10 in his church’s choir in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 1992, Anthony Hamilton moved to New York City and signed with Uptown Records, but ultimately released his debut studio album XTC in 1996 with MCA. Anthony Hamilton’s second studio album, Comin From Where I’m From, came out in 2003, selling over a million copies in the US and going platinum.
He followed the success of his second record up with Ain’t Nobody Worryin’ in 2005, which received a Gold certificate, followed by another Gold certified record, The Point of it All, in 2008. Anthony Hamilton collaborated with many talented musicians in the course of his musical career, including singing the chorus of Nappy Roots’ 2002 single “Po’ Folks”, for which he was nominated for a Grammy Award. Anthony Hamilton and Nappy Roots collaborated several more times on the songs “Sick & Tired”, “Push On” and “Organic” on the Nappy Root album, Wooden Leather, as well as on the song “Bluegrass Stain’d” along with Mark Ronson. Anthony Hamilton received another Grammy nomination for Best Rap/Song Collaboration when he was featured on Jadakiss’ song “Why” in 2004, but ultimately won the Grammy Award for Best Traditional R&B Performance for “You’ve Got The Love I Need” with Al Green in 2009.
In 2011, Anthony Hamilton signed with RCA Records to release Back to Love and Home for the Holidays in 2014. In 2016, Anthony Hamilton released the album What I’m Feelin’¸which debuted at the number two position on the US Billboard R&B chart.
