Band of Horses, originally called just Horses, is an American rock band from Seattle. The band was formed in 2004 by Ben Bridwell and has released several albums to critical acclaim. After Band of Horses opened for Iron and Wine in Seattle, they received attention from Sub Pop, putting the band on the map. Their 2005 release, Tour EP was sold on the Sub Pop website. Band of Horses’ first full length album was titled Everything All the Time and was released in 2006. The debut album featured new versions of five of the six songs which appeared on Tour EP, along with 5 brand new songs. Band of Horses’ first single from their debut album was titled “The Funeral”, which received extensive radio air play as well as being featured in various video games, films, and television programs. Band of Horses would soon appear on The Late Show with David Letterman and other late night talk shows. After extensive touring in support of their debut release, the band returned to Seattle in order to record their second album. Cease to Begin was released in 2007 and Band of Horses performed at many major music festivals around the world in support of the album. In 2008, Band of Horses performed at Glastonbury Music Festival, T in the Park in Scotland, Bridge School Benefit concert, Roskilde Festival, Outside Lands in San Francisco and many other shows all over the world. The single from Band of Horses’ second studio album was titled “No One’s Gonna Love You”, which became an international hit, receiving extensive radio airplay worldwide.
In 2010, Band of Horses released their third studio album, Infinite Arms, featuring the single “Rockpalast”. In 2012, Band of Horses released the album Mirage Rock, then in 2014, Band of Horses released a ten track live album titled Acoustic at the Ryman, and in 2015, Band of Horses released the cover album Sing into My Mouth. In support of the new album, Band of Horses played at South by Southwest, Sasquatch, Splendour in the Grass, Summer Sonic, Pukkelpop, Highfields, Malmo, Rock en Seine, Reading, Leeds, ACL, Farm Aid, and many more obscure music festivals. Band of Horses released their fifth studio album, “Why Are You Ok” in June of 2016 and will be touring the world in support of it.
