Billy Currington had a long and winding road to country music stardom, and he followed the path of many great country musicians by conquering Nashville and then the rest of the country. Currington was born in Rincon, Georgia, and experienced the pain and abuse that comes with having an alcoholic stepfather. Over the years, he would take his childhood experiences and channel them into his music, which allowed him to create a deep and soulful record that sets him apart from his country contemporaries.

After striking out in a variety of musical outlets in his hometown, Currington moved to Nashville after high school to pursue a career in music. After playing in dive bars and refining his craft wherever he could score a gig, he eventually caught the eye of record producers and was signed to Mercury Records shortly after arriving. His self-titled debut album was released in 2003, and allowed him to face his inner demons early on. The album's single, "Walk A Little Straighter," reveals a scene from his childhood of his father stumbling through the door, and vowing to never do that to his child. Ironically, the chorus of the song was written when he was only 12-years-old.

Currington's second album, Doin' Something Right, was his biggest commercial success thus far and netted him his first No. 1 single, "Must Be Doin' Something Right." The album features other successful singles like "Why, Why, Why" and "Good Directions," and was warmly received by critics and country music fans alike. The artist's third album, Little Bit of Everything, was plagued by delays, but still resulted in No. 1 singles like "That's How Country Boys Roll," "People are Crazy" and many other crowd favorites.

With the stellar street cred Currington built up over the course of the 2000s, his 2010 release Enjoy Yourself, was the biggest album thus far. The singles "Pretty Good at Drinkin' Beer" and "Let Me Down Easy" both made it to No. 1 on country charts and have been staples on country music stations all over the country.

Currington's career started from humble origins and then catapulted to international stardom. He is one of the most recognizable faces on the country music scene and has no trouble packing stadiums and arenas on tour each year.
