The presence of a certain theatricality has gone hand in hand with hard rock over the years. In the 70s and 80s it came to the forefront. The explosion of 80s glam metal saw a variety of extensively staged personas from bands like KISS and Mötley Crüe. While bands whose look have been as important as their music have faded a bit from the mainstream, there are still acts that go the extra mile to provide that additional experience for their fans. The Black Veil Brides are doing their part to keep black leather, hairspray, and copious amounts of mascara in metal.

Formed originally in Cincinnati, OH, the Brides bill themselves, appropriately enough, as being out of Hollywood, California. Since 2006, the lineup has undergone a number of changes, but Andy Biersack has remained at the core the entire time. Originally "Andy Six," he dropped the stage name later as he felt more comfortable using his birth name. The band's first EP arrived self-released in 2007, called Sex & Hollywood.

Between extensive touring and their first independent label full length-album release, 2010's We Stitch These Wounds, the Brides came to the attention of the major labels and landed a record deal with Lava Records, owned by Universal Music Group. We Stitch These Wounds had created significant buzz around the band after hitting #1 on the US Independent chart and #3 on the US Hard Rock charts. Set the World on Fire, their major label debut, followed up on that success, besting it by hitting #2 on the Hard Rock chart.

BVB's album Wretched and Divine: The Story of the Wild Ones is a concept album that was adapted into a full length feature film. The Brides' flare for the visual on full display, adapting the album for a feature film was an easy decision.

The Brides success is more than just theatrical presentation and great metal music, they've toured relentlessly in support of their work. Biersack's passion for live performance has resulted in more than a few injuries over the years. Despite injuring himself on stage, he's gone on to finish sets and come back in days for more dates. Brides' shows are energetic, can't miss affairs that keep all their fans coming back for more.
