Bon Iver is an American indie folk band formed in 2007 by singer and song writer Justin Nernon. Bon Iver’s debut album, For Emma, Forever Ago, was released independently in 2007. Bon Iver won two Grammy Awards in 2012 for Best New Artist and Best Alternative Music Album, both for his self-titled album. Formerly of the band DeYarmond Edison, Vernon moved to Wisconsin where he started Bon Iver. Vernon played all of the instruments on his debut album, recording each of them individually and editing them extensively. Bon Iver’s first album, For Emma, Forever Ago, only pressed 500 copies of the CD with a card stock case. The record release show for Bon Iver’s debut album was performed at the Hard Rock in Wisconsin, but the album itself received extensive media coverage and great reviews. Bon Iver soon signed with Jagiaguwar Records for the official album release in 2008. The single from Bon Iver’s first album was “Skinny Love”, which received plenty of radio air play as well as appearances of television programs. Vernon soon appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman in order to preform “Skinny Love”. The song also appeared on Triple J radio, The United Sates of Tara, Grey’s Anatomy, Skins, Silent Witness, House, and many more programs
Bon Iver collaborated with St. Vincent in 2009 to produce the track “Roslyn”, appearing on the Twilight: New Moon soundtrack. In 2010, Bon Iver collaborated with Kanye West to produce the track “Lost in the World”, which begins with a track originally produced by Bon Iver titled “Woods”. Vernon also contributed to the Kanye West tracks, “Monster” and “Dark Fantasy” which appeared on Kanye West’s album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. In 2011, Bon Iver performed at South by South West in Austin, Texas along with Kanye West’s project, G.O.O.D. Music. Later in 2011, Bon Iver released his second album, the double self titled, Bon Iver, Bon Iver. Bon Iver toured extensively in support of his new album. The album also recived four nominations for Grammy Awards, including nominations for their song, “Holocene”. Don’t miss your next opportunity to see Bon Iver live in concert.
