Boston, the rock band from Boston, Massachusetts, was formed by Tom Scholz. Their hits from the 70s and 80s have become classics, and can still be found on radio stations, top 100 lists, and on DJ playlists around the country. They are still recording, having released their sixth album, Live, Love, & Hope, on December 3, 2013.
Boston’s first album, Boston, was released in 1976, and sold over 17 million copies, making it one of the best-selling debut albums in U.S. history. The album peaked at number three on the charts, and included the singles “More Than a Feeling”, Long Time”, and “Peace of Mind.” Their second album, Don’t Look Back was released in 1978. Scholz did most of the recording himself. A perfectionist, Scholz felt rushed, and that the album fell short of his high standards. Album sales reflected it, with only 7 million copies sold.
The band’s third album was delayed by a disagreement with one of the band’s managers, Paul Ahern and Tom, as well as a lawsuit by CBS. During this time other members worked on their own projects, and gave Scholz the opportunity to develop his company Scholz Research & Development. Scholz’s company made amplifiers and musical equipment, including the Rockman amplifier. Finally, on September 23, 2986, Boston released their album Third Stage to number one album and number single, “Amanda.” Score with TicketCity - the place to go for Boston Tickets.
