Born on 5 November 1959, Brian Adams is a Canadian born musician, singer, actor, producer, photographer, and social activist. Adams rose to fame in North America after the release of his third album, Cuts Like a Knife, in 1983. He became an international star after the release of Reckless, his fourth album, in 1984. Three singles from the album made their way in to the top 10. They included, ‘Run to You’, ‘Summer of ‘69’, and ‘Heaven’. He is also known for his contribution to music in different genres including hard rock, soft rock, rock, country rock, and pop rock. Adams has received many nominations and awards for his work. This includes 20 Juno Awards along with 56 nominations, 15 Grammy Awards, MTV Awards, American Music Awards, ASCAP, Ivor Novello Awards, and five-time nomination for Golden Globe Awards. He was nominated three times for songwriting in films at the Academy Awards. He was awarded honors from the Order of Canada as well as Order of British Columbia for his philanthropic work and music contribution. In March 2011, he was inducted in the Hollywood Walk of Fame. By then, he was already part of Canada’s Walk of Fame and the Canadian Broadcast Hall of Fame, in 1998. In 2006, he was inducted in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame at the Juno Awards held in Canada. In 2010, he received the Allan Walters Humanitarian Award.
