Cage the Elephant is a rock band hailing from Bowling Green, Kentucky formed in 2006. Cage the Elephant consists of Matthew Schultz singing, Brad Schultz on rhythm guitar, Jared Champion on drums, Daniel Tichenor on bass guitar, Matthan Minster on keys and guitar, and Nick Bockrath on lead guitar. Cage the Elephant members Matt, Brad, and Jared were all previously in an experimental punk band called Perfect Confusion. Cage the Elephant’s debut album was self-titled, released in 2008 to critical acclaim. The band seamlessly blends elements from garage rock, blues, and punk into their high energy music. After performing at Austin, Texas’ South by Southwest festival, the band signed to Relentless Records in 2007. Cage the Elephant’s first tour was opening for Queens of the Stone Age shortly after. Their hit single from their debut self-titled album, “Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked”, reached number 32 on the Billboard single charts, however, the song was licensed extensively and seen in many movies and video games following its release. In 2008, Cage the Elephant went on tour in support of The Pigeon Detectives, Silversun Pickups and Manchester Orchestra. Cage the Elephant’s second album, Thank You, Happy Birthday, was released in 2011 and sold over 39,000 during its first week of release, debuting at the number two position on Billboard’s 200 album’s chart. In 2011, Cage the Elephant performed at Coachella Valley Music and Art Festival as well as Glastonbury Festival, among many other international shows. The album featured their hit song, “Shake Me Down”. This tour was in support of their new album which will be released at the end of 2015.
