Everything about Celtic Woman says international commercial success. Recruited in 2004 by a Riverdance producer, the quintet took advantage of the worldwide fascination of Celtic culture and music and created a smooth blend of Celtic fusion, pop, and traditional songs. PBS television immediately recognized their potential for success and taped a sold-out concert in Dublin, Ireland, in 2004. Both the pledge special and the ensuing album were a smash success. In fact, their first album, Celtic Woman, remained the number one song on Billboard’s World Music chart for sixty-eight consecutive weeks. The only thing that could knock it out of the top spot was their second album, Celtic Woman: A Christmas Celebration. PBS continued to broadcast their various specials taped at exotic Irish locations on a regular basis, keeping the energetic vocal group in the public eye. This symbiotic relationship has led to two more number one albums, including the children’s record Lullaby, bringing new and younger fans to their concerts. Celtic Woman keeps a heavy touring schedule, sometimes staying on the road for thirty-five weeks a year, to meet insatiable fan demand.

Despite several line-up changes, Celtic Woman continues to present the same silky brand of Celtic ballads and new age pop their fans have come to expect. Their international appeal is best reflected in their 2007 EBBA award given to the European artist best able to reach people outside their native country. And as long as PBS continues to broadcast their specials and fans continue to gobble up tickets and songs, Celtic Woman is in no danger of leaving the global musical stage. Celtic Woman 10th Anniversary Celebration World Tour

Celtic Woman is an act constructed for the stage, so it’s not surprise 2015 sees them on their 10th Anniversary Celebration World Tour. Called “Riverdance for the voice,” this quintet of Irish singers puts on a spirited show filled with Celtic-influenced pop songs, whether traditional Irish tunes, Christmas carols, or numbers taken straight from the great American songbook. Although fiddler Máiréad Nesbitt is the only original member still performing with the group, Celtic Woman’s stunning sound and popularity has not diminished over the past decade. Celtic Woman’s 10th Anniversary Celebration Tour takes the quintet all over the world, but sees them tour the Midwestern and Southern United States heavily. They’ll be performing in both large and small concert halls in mostly mid-sized cities. For fans used to seeing them up close on PBS, these venues help ensure concertgoers that there isn’t a bad seat in the house visually or acoustically. Celtic Woman’s rich harmonies allow them to create a variety of aural atmospheres throughout the evening that stay with an audience long after they’ve gone home for the night. It’s likely in ten years, Celtic Woman will have tickets for its 20th anniversary tour.
