While Blake Shelton has expanded his audience as one of the hosts of the NBC hit, The Voice, the singer-songwriter had already built up quite a reputation in country music circles as one of the biggest young stars in the genre. Shelton's career started to gain traction during his teen years when he won the Denbo Diamond Award, one of the most prestigious honors for young Oklahoma entertainers. By the time he completed high school, Shelton was ready to hit the big time and moved from his small town in Oklahoma to the bright neon lights of Nashville, Tennessee.

Shelton got his start in Nashville by selling songs to entertainers that would eventually be published with Naomi Martin Music, Warner/Chappell Music and Jerry Crutchfield music. Eventually, word spread about his talents and he was able to break into the charts with his own songs. In 2001, he debuted his first single, "Austin," which would spend five weeks at No. 1 on the country charts. Shelton's self-titled first album would eventually reach gold status and also score him chart-toppers like "All Over Me" and "Ol' Red."

In 2003, Shelton returned with his sophomore effort, The Dreamer, which would climb to No.8 on the Billboard Hot 100 Albums chart and net the singer a chart-topping hit for "The Baby." He followed the enormous success of this album with his third release, Blake Shelton's Barn & Grill, which was released along with a DVD of live performances. After the moderate success of his next two albums, Pure BS and Startin' Fires, Shelton would hit it big in 2010 with his new album, Hillbilly Bone, and his No. 1 single, "All About Tonight."

In 2011, the Nashville singer found even greater success, as he released his most successful album to date, Red River Blue. The album featured the No. 1 single "Honey Bee," which the RIAA reported as the fastest downloaded single to be certified gold in music history. Along with his marriage to country music starlet Miranda Lambert and his starring role as a judge and singing coach on The Voice, Shelton has finally arrived as one of the heavyweights in country and pop music.

Shelton's meteoric rise to fame is a credit to his inspiring songwriting, onstage presence and the refreshing take on modern country music that has made him one of the most successful artists in the music industry today.
