Autograph hunters should leave a couple spaces blank if they want to add Eli Young to their collection. The band's namesakes, Mike Eli and James Young, met while freshmen at the University of North Texas. They passed the time between classes by playing guitar and later performing as the acoustic duo "Eli & Young." Jon Jones and Chris Thompson joined up later, necessitating a tweak to the band name.

The Eli Young Band released their self-titled freshman album in 2002. The album failed to chart, but the band was hardly unknown. They hit the road, touring extensively to build a following. Their sophomore effort, Level, also missed the charts, but their audience grew steadily.

The band combined solo touring with opening spots for other higher profile country acts like Miranda Lambert and Robert Earl Keen. These opportunities brought them to a wider audience, one that helped their third album not only chart, but chart in the top ten. 2008's Jet Black & Jealous peaked at #5 on the Top Country Album charts, spawning four singles. "Always the Love Songs" fared best, peaking at #11 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs.

Jet Black & Jealous put the Eli Young Band firmly in the spotlight. The band continued writing new material and touring, building to the 2011 release of Life at Best. The fourth album surpassed their previous effort, peaking at #3 and providing the band two #1 singles. "Crazy Girl" and "Even If It Breaks Your Heart" both achieved Platinum status, and "Crazy Girl" earned the band a Song of the Year award at the 2012 ACM Awards.

Their success hasn't slowed down the Eli Young Band. They continue to tour regularly, both solo and now with some of the biggest names in country music, like Kenny Chesney. The band uses the time touring to write new material, and they have a long career ahead of them. Don't miss one of country music's most talented voices, get your tickets today.
