The Lumineers are a folk rock band hailing from Denver, Colorado. The founding members of the Lumineers are singers and guitarist Wesley Schultz and drummer and percussionist Jeremy Fraites. The band now incorporates cellist and vocalist Neyla Pekarek, pianist Seth Ulvang, and bassist Ben Wahamaki. The Lumineers released their debut, self-titled studio album on Dualtone Records in 2012, which peaked at the number 2 position in Billboard’s Top 200 Album charts. The Lumineers’s self-titled album has since gone platinum worldwide. When Schultz and Fraites originally collaborated and started playing gigs in New York, they performed under various stages names, including Free Beer, 6 Check, and Wesley Jeremiah. After the two moved to Denver, Colorado, they formed the rest of The Lumineers. In 2011, The Lumineers signed on to Onto Entertainment, which funded the band to record a full length album in Seattle with producer Ryan Hadlock. The Lumineers’ first big single was “Ho Hey”, which saw plenty of radio air time and was extensively licensed by television shows.
The Lumineers’ self-titled albumwas released in 2012 on Dualtone Records. The album was very successful for the band and their single “Ho Hey” his the number one position on Billboard Hot 100. The Lumineers were nominated for two Grammy Awards in 2012 for Best New Artist and Best Americana Album. The Lumineers later released the EP titled Winter in 2012. The second single from the band was “Stubborn Love”, hitting the number one position on the Adult Alternative Song charts. After touring extensively in 2013, The Lumineers released their third single, “Submarines”. The Lumineers continued to perform and license their songs heavily, including the single “Visions of China”, which was featured on The Walking Dead and “The Hanging Tree”, which appeared in the major motion picture The Hunger Games: Mockingjay with vocals from Jennifer Lawrence. The Lumineers Tour – 2015
In 2015, The Lumineers performed at a number of music festivals and venues across the U.S., although the band was also busy recording their next studio album in 2015. During their live concerts in 2015, The Lumineers performed all of their hit singles and fan favorite songs, including “Ho Hey”, “Stubborn Love”, “Submarines”, “Visions of China” and more. And at some shows, a rendition of “The Hanging Tree” with Schultz singing the lyrics.
