Darius Carlos Rucker is popularly known for his association with the rock band, Hootie and the Blowfish, which he founded in 1986 at the University of South Carolina. The Grammy award winning band comprised of Rucker, Mark Bryan, and Jim ‘Soni’ Sonefeld, along with Dean Felber. Darius Rucker was the lead singer and the rhythm guitarist of the band. While he was with the band, they released five studio albums. Hootie and the Blowfish were able to chart six top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Majority of the band’s songs were co-written by Rucker along with the other members of the band. His first solo album in the R&B category came out in the year 2002, titled as ‘Back to Then’. This album was released by Hidden Beach recordings, but none of the songs were charted from this album. After a period of six years, Capitol Records, Nashville, signed him as an artist of country music and he released his first album in the very year of being signed called ‘Learn to Live’. This album worked well for Rucker as the first single ranked number one on the charts of Hot Country Songs. His streak didn’t stop here and he delivered two more top singles “Alright” and “It won’t Be Like This”. Another hit song of his was “History in the Making” which came at number three. The year 2009 had him marked as the first black man to win the New Artist Award presented by Country Music Association. His second album with Capitol Records came out on October 2nd, 2010 and it was titled as “Charleston SC 1996”. This album delivered two more top singles, “This” and “Come Back Soon”. Darius Rucker’s “Southern Style” tour is all set to start with his performances spread out all around the United States of America. The first single of this album, “Homegrown Honey” has already created quite a stir since its release in 2014. It has been released to digital retailers and on country radio. The album has already been featured as number one on the charts of Country Airplay. The tour is expected to start on May 14th from Holmdel, NJ and is expected to last till August 30th.
