The Deftones are from Sacramento, California and play a form of alternative metal. Founded in 1988 by lead singer Chino Moreno, the Deftones include Stephen Carpenter on lead guitar, Frank Delgado on keyboards and turntables, Abe Cunningham on drums and percussion, and Sergio Vegas on bass after the passing of Chi Cheng, their former bassist. All band members started playing shows right out of high school. After their debut album, Adrenaline, was recorded at Bad Animal Studios in 1995, Deftones set out on another tour. The resulting tracks from Adrenaline which became popular songs include “7 Words”, “Bored”, and “Engine No. 9”. By the end of 2008, Adrenaline would have sold over a million copies. The Deftones next album was titled Around the Fur in 1997, which featured their popular single, “MX” and “Be Quite And Drive (Far Away)”, which became some of the band’s most well-known songs and propelled the band into stardom amongst the alternative metal scene. Deftones followed the album with a tour at many major music festivals around the US, including Warped Tour, Ozzfest, Pinkpop Festival, Rosklide Festival and more. White Pony was the title of the Deftones third studio album and did even better than their last, debuting at number three on the Billboard charts. White Pony was released in 2000 and featured the singles, “RX Queen”, “Knife Party”, “Change (In the House of Flies)”, and “Passenger”. White Pony went platinum in 2002, selling over a million copies and earning the band a Grammy Award for Best Metal Band Performance. The band’s self-titled album was released in 2003, then the Deftones released their B-sides and Rarities in 2005, which included many surpise hits, including rare and acoustics versions of previously released songs, such as “Digital Bath”, as well as covers of songs done in their own style, including Lynard Skynard’s “Simple Man” and Duran Duran’s “The Chauffer”. Deftones released their Saturday Night Wrist in 2006, which debuted at the number ten spot on the Billboard charts. The album featured many collaborations on tracks, such as “Mein”, which featured System of a Down singer Serj Tankian. Diamond Eyes was released in released in 2010, the band’s sixth studio album, which featured their hit song, “Rocket Skates”. The Deftones album Koi No Yokan was released in 2012. Deftones & Rise Against Tour 2017

Deftones are heading out on a tour with fellow metal pioneers Rise Against, and special guests Thrice, to bring a show like no other to metal music fans of the late 90s and 00s. Beginning in Chicago in June, the tour will head to places such as Wantagh, Tampa, Jacksonville, Dallas, Denver, Salt Lake City, Bend, Concord, Chula Vista and Las Vegas, before finishing up in Phoenix in July.
