Flogging Molly is a seven piece band from Los Angeles, California who stylize themselves as playing Celtic Punk music. The band was formed by Dave King, who was born in Dublin and the lead singer of the heavy metal band, Fastway. When Dave King met guitarist Ted Hutt, bassist Jeff Peters, and a fiddle player by the name of Bridget Regan, the four put together a rock band with a Celtic feel to it. The wrote the songs “Black Friday Rule” and “Devil’s Dance Floor” and Flogging Molly was born. Although Ted and Jeff soon left the band, Flogging Molly recruited a fan by the name of Nathen Maxwell and together they recorded the live album, Alive Behind the Green Door in 1997. Flogging Molly went to release several albums, including Swagger, Drunken Lullabies, Within a Mile of Home, Float, and Speed of Darkness, as well as a live acoustic album titled Whiskey on a Sunday, which went platinum. Flogging Molly soon became a staple at the annual Warped Tour and have sold over half a million records between 1996 and 2006. In 2007, Flogging Molly released a new EP titled Complete Control Sessions and the studio full-length album Float shortly after, which landed in the number 4 spot in Billboard’s Top 200 albums. This album contained the band’s first chart topping singles, “Requiem for a Dying Songs” and “Float”.
Flogging Molly then embarked upon their Float Tour, performing at sold out venues and stadium all over the world. After the tour, the band released a live album, Live At The Greek Theater in 2010. The Flogging Molly style of music has influenced bands everywhere from California to Ireland and the band is hailed as one of the best live performing rock bands alive. Flogging Molly Tour – 2015
In 2015, Flogging Molly performed at venues of all sized internationally. Flogging Molly performance are known for their high energy level and stage performance, often inciting mosh pits in the crowd while bringing together fans from all over the world. On their 2015 tour, Flogging Molly performed many of their classic hits and fan favorite songs, including “Salty Dog”, “Float”, “Requim for a Dying Song”, and many more. Flogging Molly spent a lot of time in 2015 writing and working on their next album to be released in 2016.
