Founded by Grohl in 1994, the band was initially a one-man project. After working with several different artists, Grohl created Foo Fighters, named after the famous term from WWII. The main idea behind the formation of the band was to support the album which Grohl wanted to release in anonymity. The members of the band include Dave Grohl, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear, Nate Mendel, and Taylor Hawkins. Rami Jaffee has been a part of the band as well since 2005 assisting in touring and sessions.
