James Blake is an English electronic music producer, singer, and songwriter from London. He first gained recognition for his dubstep-influenced style of music in 2009. James Blake went on to win a Grammy Award for Best New Artist at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards and was nominated for a Brit Award in 2014 for British Male Solo Artist.
James Blake’s debut EP was titled Air & Lack Thereof, released in 2009. The record received extensive radio air play on BBC1. James Blake followed this up with the Klavierwerke EP and a third EP, titled CMTK, released in 2010 with R&S Records. The title track, “CMTK”, became BBC1’s Record of the Week and was awarded Single of the Year by Gillies Peterson’s Worldwide Awards. James Blake’s cover of Feist’s song “Limit to Your Love” was nominated for the Hottest Record in the World. in 2011, James Blake was nominated for BBC’s Sound of 2011, coming in at a close second, at which point he started performing extensively at nightclubs and music festivals around United Kingdom, such as Glastonbury.
James Blake’s debut self-titled studio album was released in 2011, which included a collaboration with Bon Iver on the track “Fall Creek Boys Choir”. Later in 2011, James Blake released two EPs, Enough Thunder and Love What Happened Here. James Blake’s second album, released in 2013, was titled Overgrown, featuring the single “Retrograde” with appearances from producer Brian Eno and RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan. In 2015, James Blake released Radio Silence, his third album which featured Bon Iver, Kanya West, and guest guitarist Connan Mockasin. In 2016, James Blake released his fourth studio album The Colour in Anything and began touring extensively in support of the album.
